The short version
Whatever we hold about you, you can see it, correct it, or have it deleted. One message is enough. We answer within a month, usually much sooner, and we won't ask you to justify yourself.
What you can ask for
Under the GDPR, which applies to us as a Dutch association, you have the right to:
- See your data. Ask what we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correct it. If something is wrong or out of date, we'll fix it.
- Delete it. Ask us to erase your data. We'll do so unless the law makes us keep part of it, for example payment records for the tax administration; in that case we'll tell you exactly what stays and for how long.
- Pause it. Ask us to stop using your data while a question about it is sorted out.
- Take it with you. Get the data you gave us in a common format you can pass to someone else.
- Object. Tell us you don't want us using your data for a particular purpose.
- Withdraw consent. Where we rely on your yes, for instance the tick box under the contact form or the access and safety notes on a registration, you can take that yes back at any time. It doesn't undo what we did before, but we stop from then on.
Two things specific to us
Photos. If you're in a photo on this site or in our social posts and you'd rather not be, tell us and it comes down. No explanation needed.
Faerie names. If you'd like us to use your faerie name rather than your legal name in anything that isn't a legal or financial record, just say. Where the law needs a legal name (a payment, a registration with an authority), we keep that separate and private.
How to ask
Send us a message through our contact form and say what you'd like. We may ask you to confirm it's really you, usually by checking it against the email address we already have for you. We answer within a month; if a request is complicated we may take up to two more months, and we'll tell you if so. It's free.
If we get it wrong
Tell us first; we'd rather fix it than be reported. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority in the country where you live.
How we handle data day to day is in the Privacy Policy; what we store in your browser is in the Cookie Declaration.
